I first met Mark Griffin during the summer of 2006 at the Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell, Illinois. Out of the 25,000 people at the festival that year, we just happened to set up camp next to each other. We immediately hit it off just because we had the same weird love of Christian rock bands from the late 80′s and 90′s. Late one night while talking I learned that he was trying to develop a web site for the school that he worked at in Taiwan. After discussing exactly what he wanted in a site, I suggested that he build the site based upon a Content Management System. He fell in love with the idea and asked me to help him make it happen. We did, and shortly thereafter all of the other Morrison Christian Academy schools had adopted not only the Joomla! technology, but also the simple design template that he and I had developed together.
Fast forward to 2011, and with his summer vacation quickly approaching, Mark again reached out to me to see what ideas I had about a site upgrade and redesign. We had four primary objectives: (1) upgrade the Joomla! CMS from version 1.0 to the most current version, (2) upgrade to a fresh and modern design template, (3) streamline the site navigation, and (4) make a site that multiple teachers and staff could easily add new content to. I believe we have accomplished all four, but the best part of the entire process was reconnecting with a good friend!

Having spent ten years volunteering as the infamous “Bullseye” for a camp for children with cancer, the opportunity to work with Traci and Sandy was pretty much a no-brainer for me. The initial plan for the Leaps of Love site was actually very basic – develop a site where the organization could easily post new [...]

Amy L. Marxkors is a marathoner and a brand spanking new author of a book titled “The Lola Papers.” We ran into each other at Kaldi’s Coffee one day this past summer and just started talking. She told me some fanciful tale of getting into the VIP area during the St. Louis Rams Spring Training [...]

BRIAN! I was at a very low moment in my life when I went to Cornerstone and ended up camping right next to you. I had promised myself that I would re-do our school’s webpage that summer and despite the fat book on html coding exercises I was working on, I was having a hard time putting it all together. The site was not going to come together in time. I was feeling despondant that I was supposed to do this giant task and I was utterly clueless as to how to accomplish it. I think it was an act of God to get us talking…I mean who else in that crowd of 25,000 could have helped me?? Now you’ve stepped up again and helped me get my second site up and going. And the staff and students here are gleeful over its performance and look. To go further, I would say that all the schools in our system are looking at our page as a potential model for an upgrade!
Brian, you have a giving heart and an awesome attitude. I am blessed to know you, brother! I think of you every time I’m jamming to my favorite Savior Machine album!
